Our Vision |
Living in a world where the emphasis is generally to divide and separate, our four South African Nobel Laureates have sought rather to unify and heal. |
With that embedded as the ethos behind the Quartet of Peace we have chosen to focus our support towards "at risk" children fostering hope and meaning in places of despair. |
We are committed to being fully transparent in all our endeavors and there is a great awareness in using monies raised appropriately. This has been emphasized by the spirit of generosity from all those involved. |
The musicians offered to play our first three concerts without receiving financial remuneration. |
Our first series of concerts raised £4100 which has been channeled to a remarkable charity, Musequality, established by David Juritz. Letter of appreciation |
For our Cape series of concerts from the 27th august to 1 st September, 2011 we have chosen the Church with no Roof Community Centre as our beneficiary. |
Dominee Charl du Toit sat one day on the stoep of a small church in the township of Nieu Bethesda and began to play his violin. Instantly the surrounding children were attracted to the mesmerizing sound. He encouraged them to sing along and so was born this remarkable music initiative. |
Charl and his wife Belinda were startled when they saw a church on the hill being demolished so approached the owners who offered them use of this Church with no Roof which they hope to now turn into a Community Centre. The church is perfectly situated between the two communities on neutral ground. They are engaging both communities to help restore the building and by so doing heal the racial divide. The children will be offered music, art and drama and will symbolically learn to under one roof. |
